Race Day Looming (jodi)

This 1/2 marathon is DAYS away now, and I DO BELEIVE I am going to be ready!  NOT that it will be easy.  That 9 mile run I did the other day was no piece of cake.  I wanted to stop.  It was our required long run for that week.  Tough stuff.  BUT – when I look back on it, I understand that I’ve learned some tricks!!!!!!  Here’s HOW I am able to do this…..learned the hard way 🙂

1 – Keep the upper body loose.  No tension up there – it wastes energy.

2 – Belly breaths.  Breath deep into my stomach – not high up in the chest.  This keeps me getting more oxygen and not huffing and puffing.

3 – Keep good posture/form.   I can go longer without a break like this, since my feet, knees and shoulders do not hurt if I do it right!  Amazing!  Also – when the form is right – more oxygen.

4 – It’s Mental Mental Mental.  My body will always give out before my mind.  So when I hit a tough patch, my mind keeps my going.

Now – if I can just figure out what to do with those blisters !  ICKK!!

    Just getting around to look at site…best thing for blisters is tea bag..make some tea enjoy use bag …place on blister..note this will stain your skin but will help blisters dry out. If you use black tea and have this after runs it is also suppose to help muscle recover.
