Sam-Vaca Day Deux

Jam packed fun day today, though it started about 4:30 this morning with Parker screaming bloody murder.

I ran to his room and he must have been having a bad dream.  A few minutes of calming down and he was back to sleep.  Luckily Jack was still out.  But, I did hear talking in Sammy’s and Will’s room.  Opened the door and Sammy was on the computer with  headset playing WOW.  Jesus…it’s 4:30 in the morning.

Jack and Parker eventually got up at 6:30…Maddie shortly after because Parker woke her up.  We decided to watch Alvin and the Chipmunks as our morning routine.  Pretty quiet, a few cries when Parker hit Jack or Maddie-gotta break him of that one.  I didn’t really care about the noise of screaming and crying because if woke up Sammy GOOD!

The rest of the morning was donuts for the kids (not me), the après donut Wal Mart run and then swimming at Fred’s next door.  We had the pool to ourselves so the screaming and splashing had no limits.

Just had to run in and change Parker’s poopy pants.  It’s the 5th exploding diaper he’s had today…diarrhea for some reason.  In fact on the way to donuts this morning we had to go back home because he exploded.

Anyway, the rest of the day was lunch, napping, afternoon play inside (raining outside), dinner, baths, relaxing and bedtime.

Right now it’s 9:00, I’m on the patio and chilling with an adult beverage (and it’s only 1.5 pts for Weight Watchers) Ah…Saturday night.

Sam-Vacation Has Begun

It’s Friday June 27 and I don’t have to be back to work until Monday July 14…that’s over two weeks people.

Plans? Well This weekend I get things started with all 5 kids in the house and it’s a blast so far.  The three little ones are getting along so nice…playing in the “kitchen” in Maddie’s room.  Sammy called Parker “Bubba” today and Parker argued that his name was not bubba.

It was nice tonite at dinner to have them all around the table with me because it doesn’t happen often that a) it’s all of them and b) it’s just daddy and them.  I hope that they feel the same as me…that we are a happy little unit.

Dinner is fun because it’s like 5 different conversations going on at once: Sammy reminds me to watch “Semi Pro” with him, Maddie wants a kiss, Jack is trying to get Sammy’s attention, Will is talking about vacation with his friends and Parker wants more drink.

When I just had Sammy and was a frazzled parent I could never have imagined myself with five kids and never would I have thought that I could be so satisfied and happy this way…doesn’t seem logical.

At bedtime Jack and Parker (who share a room) didn’t go to sleep for about an hour.  All I heard was giggling, heard toys crashing and saw flashlight beacons under the door…then Parker came out with poop on his fingers because he had pooped and stuck his hand in his pants.  Why they do that I’ll never know.

Anyway, back to vacation.  After this weekend I have Jack next week then Sammy, Will and the twins the following week.

I’m broke so there is no “vacation” for us again this year, but we’re going to have fun around here and wherever we go to play over the next two weeks.

Right now it’s just past 11 pm.  I’m on the patio with a delicious Bud Light Lime and I’m listening to my Mellow playlist on the iPod.

Hopefully more updates to come.

Emilie: I’m an aunt…AGAIN!!!!!!

I was on vacation this past Thursday and Friday with Mike and friends and got a text from my sister Friday mid morning letting me know that Benjamin wasn’t going to wait for me to get back from vacation to make his appearance into the world…
Remeber this picture I posted of him months ago?

Well he was born Friday at 10:22pm and here he is now!

And here he is with his big brother Anthony…

Anyway I just had to show Benjamin Paul off b/c I’m so proud and excited!  I got to see him Sunday night when I got back from vacation and he was so cute and snuggly.  I forgot how much I love holding little babies!

Sam-Weight Updeight

Here it is day 3 of my 2nd shot at Weight Watchers and so far it’s going swimmingly.

When I had my final pre-WW weigh in on Sunday I topped out at 218.8 (the new digital scale breaks it down into tenths of pound). Ironically that’s the same weight range I was in the last time I started WW…and last time I dropped to 187 for a brief time.

After just two days I was down to 211.6 last night…that’s over 7 pounds in just two days. Now realistically I know I can’t drop 7 pounds every two days…I know most of it is probably water or beer from the weekend or whatever, but it’s a great start.

As far as the points go I’m keeping under my daily allowance…and keeping my 35 bonus points available for the weekend!

I know the major weight droppage will probably stop today or tomorrow, but slow and steady wins the race…right?

The goal is 190-195…nothing crazy here…updates to follow.

The End of an Era – jodi’s blog

The other night, we retired the family baby bed. It is the one that Taylor (7) slept in, and Phoebe(3). Phoebe just graduated to a toddler bed. And I cannot part with this bed. It is too special to me. (I also think it’s gorgeous!!) So – we moved it into Tay’s room, and filled it with stuffed animals. Quite a nice solution, two birds kind of a thing. In the years to come, I’m sure I’ll have to move it (attic?).

But for now, I need it in sight. I cannot believe no one in my house needs the bed! Kind of sad. Both of my babies sleep peacefully here for the beginning of their lives. Now – they are too big for it.

Isn’t it cute? What is it about a baby bed that makes us want to be near? I’ve never felt this way about a piece of furniture – a piece of wood! But I know I will not part with it. Maybe one day, my grandchildren will sleep in it. J
