Murphy: GAS FOR A $ 1.87 !!!!
There we were…in the middle of nowhere when suddenly I saw it !
![]() |
It had to be too good to be true, or was it a Memorial day special ? Secretly hoping I had hit the jackpot as we got closer.
I turned around to check it out while eyeballing my “E” light.
Then this tantalizing tease turned into nothing more than an abandoned gas station, when I saw the empty parking lot below-and the very empty dusty and desolate convenience store.
Oh well, better luck next time J

A Review of Indiana Jones 4 by Drew (no spoilers)
Way too much pressure for a sequel! Over 75% of people surveyed by USA Today said Indiana Jones 4 was the one movie they wanted to see this summer. If you build it up to that level then you will be let down by anything you’ve seen.
On that note, I went in the theatre with an open mind and I was extremely impressed. Harrison is in phenomenal shape and even though a few stunts aren’t believable it is fun and he pokes fun at himself. Shia Lebeouf (Transformers, Disturbia) is the scene stealer. Whether you know who he is or you don’t like him, you’ll still like him in this movie. The ending will leave plenty of open doors, most of which could involve Shia.
Whenever you watch a Steven Spielberg/George Lucas film, you have to watch for little reminders of their previous films and those are in Indiana Jones as well. Also, they make an effort to frame the time period of the late fifties and they do a great job of illustrating the period.
There are some returning characters (Marianne played by Karen Allen) and some previous characters who do not return. Cate Blanchett plays the villain and she is probably the best actress of this decade and she delivers.
There are two things about this movie that make it different than any other Indiana Jones movie and you’ll see what I’m talking about.
Again, I loved it and I’m going to see it again. They truly understand what makes an action movie great and if you need an escape then this is your movie.
Rated: PG-13. If Temple of Doom made you squeemish then this movie will too.
Really a great film. I laughed, I was thrilled, and I was surprised. When you see the movie, let me know what you think at drew@murphysamandjodi.com.
PS. Trailers before the movie included Austrailia with Nicole Kidman and Hugh Jackman, Hancock (with Will Smith), Wall-E (Disney), Hellboy 2, Kung Fu Panda (Dreamworks cartoon) and Eagle Eye (another Shia Lebeouf).

Emilie’s review of the new Indiana Jones movie!
So its been a loooong time since I saw the original Indiana Jones movies, but it didn’t matter! You don’t have to go back and watch the older movies if you don’t have the time. They did a good job of catching you up on what you may have forgotten. And ladies — Harrison Ford looks very nice!
It’s a great movie for men and women! It’s just like all of the other Indiana Jones movies. Lots of action and lots of jokes! I did have to cover my eyes a couple of times, but I am easily scared and grossed out!
Anyway – go see the movie! It’s great!
Oh and younger ladies Shia LaBeouf is cute!

P.S. I Love You – the movie (jodi)
I LOVED this movie. Not many movies can accomplish in 2 hours what it did:
1 – makes you cry
2 – makes you laugh
3- helps you appreciate what you’ve got
4 – helps you to appreciate your friends
5 – makes you want to travel
6 – makes you want to watch anything with Gerard Butler (he was irresistable)
7 – makes you fall in love with Jeffery Dean Morgan – again
Most of all, I think this movie is a nice reminder that anything can happen. Scary. Also – Harry Connick Jr. is also great in it. He’s taking his acting very seriously.
Highly recommended movie. Have you seen it yet?

Sam-Letter to My 18 year old Self
Hey it’s you at 43. Yep we made it to at least 43. I’ve got this project where I work to write you a letter from the future to let you know what lays ahead and to give you some advice as well. First things first, sit down…I’ve got a few bombshells for you:
First off, your life will be nothing like what you are planning or even expect. I know you’re getting into Journalism because it should be an easy sail through college. That much is true…college will be easy and in fact very fun for you. You’ll meet your first wife there. I know I said first wife, but hold on, we’ll get to that.
I know we like to hang on to our money…mom calls us careful…there’s someone later in life named Jodi who will call you just plain cheap…but remember, we like to think of ourselves as smart. And the smart money, so to speak, should be invested wisely in some ventures you’ve never heard of before…but you will. There’s a wormy guy named Gates on the west coast…find him and give him a few hundred bucks…and while you’re out there find a little coffee shop named Starbucks and offer that guy some money too.
That should carry you for a while…at least until your five kids and who knows how many grandkids wipe you out.
Oh yeah, that’s right, I said five kids. I know that revelation along with the first wife comment probably has your heart racing and head spinning…especially seeing as how the only two dates you’ve been on at this point in life is Junior Prom and Senior Prom. But don’t sweat it. I told you, life will be nothing like you are expecting.
And by the way, don’t even try to figure out how you’re going to wind up with five kids and a first wife…you’ll never believe it anyway. Just know that your plans for a wife and 2 kids kinda will go awry by your own doing, but hold on because those five kids will be the most wonderful things that could ever happen in your life.
And that kinda leads me to the final point in this short letter: don’t sweat the small stuff. I know it’s in your genes to worry about every little thing, but trust me, you’ll learn much later–almost too late in fact–that a lot of that worry in your life doesn’t amount to much. By the time you reach your 40’s life will finally start to make sense and even with those five kids become peaceful. So stop stressing, you will be able to handle five kids as a single dad. See it all works out in the end…except for the money, but again I don’t want to freak you out and overload you right now.
So to quickly to wrap this up: you’ll be divorced twice, stuck in the same job from the day you leave college and be diagnosed with clinical depression. But don’t let that throw you for a loop right now either…probably shouldn’t have even brought it up, but I just had to get it in there before I go…like telling you about the five kids wasn’t enough of a shock. You’ll have plenty of years and lots of time to address those things when they happen so relax.
Enjoy life, love your kids and stay young.
